The Robert M. Clinger III Invitational Golf Tournament at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, February 22, 2012—The Executive Committee of the Robert M. Clinger III Invitational Golf Tournament released the results of the 6th annual tournament held on Monday, February 20, 2012 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The 2012 field was the largest to date in the tournament’s history with fifty-two invitees (forty-seven gentlemen and five ladies) ranging in age from twenty-two to eighty-eight from throughout the United States and Canada. The participants followed a modified captain’s choice format designed specifically for the tournament.

The defending champions, which consisted of the Invitational’s founder, Robert M. Clinger III, Steve Vogel, Larry Yarnell, and Isla Carter, successfully defended their title for an unprecedented third time in the Invitational. The closing score of 69 or three under par was two strokes ahead of the second place team. The victors were presented the prestigious and much coveted Obelisk of Victory and maintain their bragging rights until the 2013 Invitational where they will defend their title once again. They are the first team in the history of the tournament to successfully defend their title with back-to-back victories for three consecutive years.

The second place team consisted of Joe Biro, Jonathon Smith, and Kevin Roddy, and posted a one under par, 71. The third place team consisted of Pete Ciancione, Mack Daniels, Jimmy Edwards, and Paul Morin and posted even par, 72.
Several groups with fellow members of the Dunes Club once again threw down the gauntlet for next year’s tournament, vowing to prevent the defending champions from repeating their victory for an unprecedented fourth time. It is expected that the 2013 field will involve a more intense rivalry for the tournament victory.
The 7th Annual Robert M. Clinger III Invitational will be held on February 18, 2013 at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
About Mr. Clinger—Robert M. Clinger III is the founder of Highland Global, a strategic advisory and business valuation consultancy, and Thinking Outside the Boxe, an independent think tank. He has strong experience in the fields of business valuation, financial analysis, and mergers and acquisitions of privately-held enterprises. Mr. Clinger started the Invitational in 2007 for a close group of friends vacationing in the Myrtle Beach area for the winter. The tournament has steadily grown each year.
